Morocco Travel FAQs

Welcome to the Journey Beyond Travel question and answer page, where we help you with answers to your questions. We post our most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Morocco travel to make your plans that much easier! We will be adding to this list as we progress with this brand new feature.

Marrakesh:
Q: How many days should I spend in Marrakesh?

A: We recommend spending two to three days maximum in Marrakesh. It is a lovely city, but is on the brink of overflowing with tourists. It has an allure, a name, and a history that brings tourists by the millions. Plus, while the city is not representative of the entire country, it is worth seeing other parts of Morocco so that you can enjoy the diversity yourself. Sahara Desert:
Q: Can you describe the camel ride and camp out in the Sahara Desert?

A: You could ride camels at sunset (or the next morning at sunrise) and opt stay in the very nice hotel just on the edge of the dunes. (This option is viable with Journey Beyond Travel.) There is a pool available as well. Plus, great food. Anyhow, when you arrive at the Kasbah, you can store your baggage and take an overnight bag with you. You will need to bring a bottle of water. But, meals are provided. After about 30 minutes (or around 4.30-5pm in fall and 6pm in summer), you then go out to the camel area and find out which camel matches your personality. Once you are on your camel, he stands up and then you ride with a guide leading the way. The ride is about 1.5 to 2 hours. The camp area is very nice and you will have your own tent (if a single, or double tent with a partner). There are mats with clean sheets and blankets available. There are also carpets on the ground and currently a bathroom with western toilet. It is rustic, but works fine. There is some debate about the toilet, so that might disappear in the future. You eat dinner in a restaurant tent (or outside on a carpet) and then can enjoy music, look at the stars, or even hike up a massive dune for a better look at our universe.
Notes: Sleeping in the Sahara Desert is fun, but you don’t always get the best night’s sleep. Additionally, sand storms are common in July and August. If a sand storm arises, you will not go out into the desert or will be transported out (at the cost of the traveler). Flash floods are not common, but do occur.?
