Guinness Book of World records lists the world’s oldest living male as Tomoji Tanabe, a resident of Japan. Mr. Tanabe is said to be 112 years old. Perhaps, though, Moroccan resident Sidi Kaddour Maksouri should challenge the famous book’s claim.
Mr. Maksouri is reportedly 123 years old. Living in el-Jadida, he has only visited a doctor once in more than 30 years. His meager diet consists of bread, honey, olive oil, along with fruits and vegetables. Having been married three times, he adopted a son who is now 45. Sidi Kaddour Maksouri still lives an active life, participating in horse racing and working as a guide who hunts with falcons.
More than anything else these days, travelers are looking to include a little adventure to their Morocco itinerary. They might not be looking to jump out of planes or ski down mountains, but they are looking for a way to really connect with the place, its culture, language and people. Yes, travelers are taking a step back to a simpler time; a time without gasoline engines or even horses. These adventurous folks are straddling their bikes to cycle and bike Morocco and consider it an advantageous view.
