Casablanca, Morocco – Economic Powerhouse
Casablanca, Morocco, is home to more than 3,600,000 residents. Of this population range, roughly 30.8% of residents are at or below 15 years old. That leaves the remaining 69.2% to feed into the economic development of this city. For that reason, Casablanca is the highest economic city in Morocco and the fifth largest for the entire African continent.
The city sustains an economic lifestyle through various industrial operations within city limits. As a whole, this area accounts for roughly 50% of the productive units for the entire region of Morocco. The composition is as follows: 17% is refining products; 15% is food processing; 10% is chemical processing and the remaining 9% comes from the clothing industry. Yearly processing figures fall into an impressive 19 billion DH range.
The industrial makeup Casablanca growth has undergone changes in recent years to keep up with worldwide changes. Trade and service companies are moving towards the forefront of the production picture. Previous leaders in the industrial sector are slowly taking a back seat to keep in line with demand. Other rare sectors such as aeronautics, off-shoring and tourism are also up and coming industries making strides towards the top of the list. These types of industrial segments will aid in Casablanca’s overall financial pictures for many years to come.
With such a vivid financial picture being painted for Casablanca economic growth, many companies are looking to relocate here. This relocation may be entire company headquarters or production segments as the appeal of the area continues to grow. Among these peaking an interest in Casablanca are important and solvent local markets; diverse activities organizations and infrastructures with international standards. Industrial suppliers and providers are key players looking to move entire company chains to Casablanca.
Along with making room for up and coming industrial ventures, Casablanca is home to a range of assets as well. These include being part of the free trade agreements union and maintaining a thriving solvent local market structure. Another asset feature of the city is the efficient delivery time schedule. It takes an average of three days for goods to reach production centers throughout Western Europe.
Another highlight of Casablanca’s financial picture is the fact that it is home to the largest international airport for Morocco. The roadways and transportation system is composed of 49,000 km of roads. In addition to this, there is an expansive railway system that runs throughout the city and to other portions of Morocco.
When all of these impressive features of Casablanca are added up, the sum total presents a vibrant, fast paced economical powerhouse at the forefront of Morocco’s economic future.
