Moroccan Children Bring Smiles
Little Madeline McCann has been missing for more than 40 days. She was kidnapped in Praia da Luz, Portugal. Her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann were met by Moroccan children carrying pictures of their daughter, during their visit. The McCann’s are in Morocco to bring attention to their daughter’s plight. Madeline was seen in Marrakech six days ago.
Children holding placards with Madeline’s picture, surrounded the McCann’s. This brought a big smile to Kate McCann’s face. She has not had much to smile about in the past few weeks. More than 100 children kept up their calling for Madeline while her parents met with leaders of the National Observatory for the Rights of Children. Mr. and Mrs. McCann, also, met with the ambassador from Britain, and the head of Morocco’s police. They wanted to make sure that everything possible is being done to locate their daughter. Gerry and Kate McCann stated that it is possible that Madeline is no longer in Portugal. They have traveled in Europe and Morocco to bring attention to Madeline’s kidnapping.
Madeline’s plight is not well known in Morocco. But if the children surrounding the McCanns are a benchmark, her case will be well publicized. Maddie, as she is sometimes called, will have her picture put everywhere. After meeting with National Observatory for the Rights of Children, the McCann’s met with another children’s organization called Touche Pas Mes Enfants, (Do Not Touch My Children). This organization was set up to help bring attention and the end to children being used for pedophilia.
Some of the children holding placards voiced their concern and support for the McCanns. They expressed remorse for what happened and want the parents to know that they support them. They told Mr. and Mrs. McCann that they want Madeline found. The children greeting the McCann’s were holding posters printed at an internet café. Mr McCann was impressed by what modern technology has brought to Madeline’s case.
The McCann’s returned to Portugal on Tuesday. They reassured the public that they would remain in Portugal, at least for now. They want to be where they last saw their daughter. Mr. McCann told the crowds that he and his wife will step out of the limelight and decide their next moves in finding their daughter. They want to consider what has been accomplished so far in the investigation. And they want to spend more time with their other two children.
Before leaving Morocco, the couple visited Necropolis of Challah in Rabat.
