Moroccan King Has Visitors
King Mohammed VI is seeing important visitors. Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali sent his emissary, Fouad Mebazaa, to visit Morocco. He and the Ambassador from Tunisa, Salah Bakkart had an audience with his Majesty last Thursday.
Following the delegation from Tunisia, Moroccan King Mohammed VI will host King Abdallah II of Jordan and his wife, Queen Rania Al Abdallah. During the three day visit, January 13-15 will hold talks in the Royal Palace in Marrakech. A state dinner will be held in the visitor’s honor.
The two countries have had 44 agreements and memorandum of understanding between them including a free trade agreement since 1999. Morocco and Jordan enjoy volumes of trade exchanges that amount of nearly 24 million US Dollars. Morocco and Jordan along with Tunisia and Egypt are entered into the Agadir Agreement which should boost the volume of bilateral exchanges.
Morocco and Jordan are members of the G11 Group, which was set up at the imitative of King Abdallah II. This group consists of nations whose annual income ranges between 826 and 3255 US Dollars. G11 brings together Morocco and Jordan with Ecuador, Georgia, Indonesia, Paraguay, Pakistan, and others giving them a common denominator on economic, financial and commercial levels.
