Morocco is one of the more adventurous holiday destinations with an ever-growing appeal for European travelers. Figures of people traveling to this great country have risen significantly in the past 4 years. Morocco offers not only a sun-filled holiday destination, but the friendliness of the Moroccan people, the great food and the relaxed pace of a typical Moroccan day.
Visiting this country for a holiday is like traveling to a whole new world filled with bright colors and fragrant spices. One commodity that adds to the uniqueness of this destination is the Moroccan currency. As Morocco has a so-called closed currency, it is not possible to obtain Moroccan money (called dirham) before you travel. The International Currency Exchange, the officially worldwide recognized body, advises those traveling to Morocco to take along US dollars, UK Pounds or Euros. These types of currency can be changed into dirhams upon arrival in Morocco, and can, of course, be changed back into your own currency before you leave the country.
But not to worry. It will be difficult not to spend all that money you’ve previously changed, as there is so much to buy in Morocco. From spices to pigments, from leather goods such as shoes and bags, there is something to find for everyone.
Follow these traveling tips in Morocco: Do not carry all your cash around in one bag, but try to spread it over multiple bags or purses. As might be expected, it is best to simply carry money in your hand luggage to make sure that it won’t get lost, misplaced, or stolen.
