Moroccan Prince Promotes Health
Preventing eye disease and reducing blindness are commitments of Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco. Working with partners like Association Hassania du Scoutisme Marocain, Association Tahanaoute, among others, he is helping to bring awareness of eye problems to outlying cities, towns and villages, from Safi and chefchaouen to Marrakech and the Western Sahara.
An ophthalmologist and a team of nurses have been assembled to conduct cataract surgery in the rural areas and teach about the diseases that cause blindness. His Royal Highess supports this campaign. He works very hard to promote health for children from underprivileged backgrounds as well as for women and the elderly. His goal is to raise awareness of having improved health and well being in the those villages outside of the mainstream towns and cities. Towns like Imlil and areas in the High Atlas Mountains will be targeted too.
His Highness seeks to promote prevention initiatives in the future by building knowledge of diabetes prevention, gynecology health, along with the ophthalmology concerns. Prince Moulay Rachid has a vision of a new awareness in the rural areas for those with mental and physical disabilities. In doing so, he is helping to bring health to all of Morocco’s residents.
