Morocco Receives Sierra Leone’s Praise
Moroccan King Mohammed VI received thanks from Sierra Leone’s Foreign Minister, Zainab Bangura. Meeting with her Moroccan counterpart, Taieb Fassi Fihri, she expressed gratitude for Morocco’s support of Sierra Leone. Ms. Bangura expressed hope that the two countries would cooperate in bettering and strengthening South-South relations.
Ms. Bangura was carrying a personal letter for King Mohammed VI from Sierra Leone’s President. Sierra Leone reiterated its support of Morocco’s bid to bring about a negotiated and political end to the West Sahara dispute with the Algerian backed Polisario. Sierra Leone considers this a phony dispute and froze its recognition of the Sahrawi Republic in 2003.
In a bid to end the dispute, Morocco proposed to grant–an initiative for wide reaching autonomy to the region. It was met with praises as being serious and credible.
Foreign Minister, Zainab Bangura praised Morocco’s cooperation with other African countries. Morocco has extended cooperation in the fields or agriculture, tourism and technology areas.
While in Morocco, the Sierra Leone diplomat met with other government officials to discuss bilateral relations development, and other issues.
