Morocco Gifts

Morocco has more and more become a popular holiday destination in the past few years, with a booming economy and inbound flights from Europe, the USA and Asia. Beautiful scenery of the High Atlas Mountains, wonderful local foods like the chicken or lamb tagine and sweet raisin couscous, and, of course, the warm welcome that tourist receive when traveling through the country make Morocco a myriad of pleasures for all visitors.

More to Morocco, however, are the fabrics and handmade, local clothing designs. Fabrics are made of locally grown cotton and can be designed and sewn by local dressmakers; if you have an idea or sketch, you could soon have your new clothes. Buying your clothes here in dressmakers’ shops makes a great contribution to the local economy.

What are other products you can buy in Morocco? Well, handmade carpets and jewelry are always popular gifts and are, more often than not, handmade by locals. What are other typical products that you can buy that are made with care and quality products? Think of classically designed and handmade leather bags, jackets and satchels. Leather goods are a strong Moroccan export product and can be purchased all over the country, and while in Fez, you can view the famous leather tannery. Moreover, Moroccan stoneware products such as tiles make for great souvenirs; as well do packets of spices and teas.

Surprise family members as well as yourself with the best gifts from this delightful country.
