Morocco Tours Mountain Splendor Trip

This Morocco tour is great for those who want to both explore Marrakesh and its outlying areas. Via 4x4 and driver, you will be able to venture over the High Atlas Mountains, visit the charming 'red city' of Taroudant, and enjoy some day hiking in the Berber village of Ouirgane and surrounding valleys.

Day 1-2: Marrakesh
You will be arriving on this first day and will have time to get settled in at the riad then be able to explore this city dubbed “Marrakesh the red” over the next 2 days. You might visit the Koubba Baadiyn and the Ali ben Youssef Koranic School, or the Badii & Bahia Palaces and the Saadian Tombs. Or, you miht opt to walk through the souk (covered market) and look at all the wares and souvenirs you can bargain for.

Day 3: Ait Benhaddou
After a couple of days in Marrakesh, you'll take private transport to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou. This ancient ksar city has appeared in international films such as Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator. Enjoy a walk along the salt river, take a jaunt to the top of the ksar, or simply enjoy a mint tea beside the pool.

Day 4: Taliouine
Located between two mountain chains, this small village was once home to the Glaoui dynasty that controlled the entire southern region all the way to Marrakesh. At over 1,000 meters in altitude, the area sits near Mount or Jbel Siroua and is the capital of saffron growing in North Africa.

Day 5: Taroudant
Surrounded by lush orchards, the town has a fortified Kasbah that has a rich historical past. The Saadians who once inhabited the area decided to move to Marrakesh, but continued to profit from the area rich in cotton and indigo. You can explore the ramparts, visit one of the souks, or shop for some of the most stunning handicrafts available in the entire country.

Day 6-7: Ouirgane
Near Marrakesh, Ouirgane's altitude keeps it nice and cool in the summer. You'll be able to enjoy some day hiking here, a possible bike ride through the valley, or simply enjoy the stunning views all around. This is a great place to relax and unwind before heading back to Marrakesh tomorrow.

Day 8: Marrakesh
Today is our last full day in Marrakesh. If you feel like getting any last minute souvenirs, such as Berber carpets, pottery, or leather goods, today is the day. By this point, you'll feel confident enough to explore the souks on your own. Enjoy the Jma el Fna square tonight one last time before heading out the next day.

Day 9: Depart Marrakesh
Today will be the last day of the tour. Check out from the hotel is at noon. Morocco trip extensions are available.
