Itinerary Disclaimer:
We are always attempting to better our itineraries. While
the Morocco tour itineraries are specific, there might be a
time where the itinerary will have to be slightly altered
due conditions out of our control. This decision will be
left up to the discretion of the the Morocco Tour Leader
for each trip conducted.
Accomodation:
We will be staying in hotels, riads, kasbahs, and B&Bs
for the majority of our tours in Morocco. We will be
sleeping out in the desert in a bedouin tent if a group
chooses that option. Conditions in the desert and in the
Hight Atlas mountains can vary greatly. It can get below
freezing at night. You should bring a proper Thermarest or
sleeping pad and a warm sleeping bag in certain travel
seasons.
Single Travelers:
We do not charge more for single travelers signing up for
our pre-planned tours unless that person requests a single
room. Otherwise, you will be expected to exercise
flexibility when it comes to sleeping arrangements. All of
our accomodations are booked as twin, shared rooms. In
certain situations, as during our High Atlas Trek, we might
have multi-person, mixed-gender rooms to accomadate
everyone properly.
Physical Demands:
Tours of Morocco with http://www.journeybeyondtravel.com
will require you to be in shape. Our tours are both
cultural and active, which means that there will be
some days where we will do quite a bit of walking.
Optional Trekking:
On a scale of one to ten (ten being the most difficult), we
rate trekking in Morocco a five out of ten, being
moderately physically demanding. If you choose to extend
your itinerary to include a trek, you should be able to
walk, hike, and trek for a period of time of at least three
hours, up and down hills, on unpaved trails, and at
altitudes above 6,000 feet (2,000 meters). On our hikes
into the High Atlas, mules will carry your backpack over
the terrain. You might want to carry a daypack with water
and snacks and extra clothing during this trek. It is
advised that if you are not in such shape that you prepare
yourself before the tour.
Long Travel:
Some of our days in transport will be long. We will be
traveling over mountain passes and curvy roads. It is
adviseable that you bring motion sickness medicine if you
are prone and not used to such travel.
Weather:
Summers (from April until September) are very hot all over
the country, even in the higher altitudes. It is adviseable
that you bring a hat and sunscreen. It does get cold at
night and you will need a fleece and outer wind jacket
shell.
Winters (from November until March) can be below freezing,
especially in the desert at night. Snow can easily fall at
anytime in the mountains and you may have to trek through
it. Bring a sleeping bag rated below freezing, warm
clothes, and proper shoes and outer wear.
Food & Drinking Water:
It is adviseable you eat only cooked foods and drink only
bottled water, purified water, or filtered water in
Morocco. A Nalgene bottle is quite handy during hikes.
Medical Form:
After you book a trip with Journey Beyond Travel to explore
Morocco, you will be required to sign a medical form that
says you are healthy enough to undergo a trip with us. If
you have a certain condition, you will be required to
present a doctor’s signature of release. This will be faxed
to our headquarters before your arrival.

closest to you. Journey Beyond Travel cannot help you
obtain further visa information or help you locate or
complete the necessary documentation for you to enter
Morocco. It is adviseable that you give yourself plenty of
time to complete the necessary paperwork if you need to
obtain a visa to enter Morocco.

personal, medical first aid kit. We will not carry one for
you. We cannot give you medications. If emergency medical

It is adviseable that you set up an email account so you
will be able to communicate with friends and family while
on your trip. Public phones are limted as many people use
cellular phones. Computer labs and cyber cafes are readily
available in most locations, except during our Morocco High
Atlas Trekking and in the desert and gorges.
Traveling in Groups:
Traveling in groups is both rewarding and can be diffcult
at the same time. Journey Beyond Travel attempts to gather
travelers from all reaches of the world. We ask that you do
your best at understanding the differences between fellow
travelers. There will be times when we are all tired, and
patience will be needed. Try to meet up with the rest of
the group at designated times and locations. If possible,
explore the different places we will visit with a buddy
from the group.
Responsible and Safe Morocco Travel:
At Journey Beyond Travel, we believe in positive,
responsible tourism. We stick to the adage: Leave nothing
behind but footprints and positive cultural connections. We
attempt to strengthen cultural ties between Moroccan and
foreign cultures as we explore this diverse country. In
fact, portions of our proceeds will go to the High Atlas
Foundation and other organizations, which helps
subsistence-level communities living in the most
resource-poor regions.
Packing:
Do not bring large suitcases or large duffle bags. You may
bring a small- to medium-sized suitcase with wheels. Bring
only what you can carry. A backpack and daypack are ideal.
You will be expected to carry your bag(s) in and out of
vehicles, up and down stairs, and through cities and
medinas. The tour leader is not a porter, but will help
make your trip hassle free and provide general information
about the culture and places we will be visiting.
