Day 1 – Cordoba
Start your day with a Spanish breakfast and strong espresso. Take a private guided tour of the historic Mosque-Cathedral and explore the Jewish Quarter on foot, including the 14th-century synagogue. Enjoy traditional tapas for lunch along the way. In the early evening as the heat dissipates, join the locals in a little stroll along by the Royal Palace and across the 1st century Roman Bridge. Tuck in for a deliciously Andalusian dinner at your accommodation paired with local organic wines.
Day 2 – Cordoba
Directly after breakfast, head to the archaeological site of Medina Azahara, a stunning medieval palace-city that offers a glimpse into the city’s rich history. Spend the morning exploring the well-preserved ruins and marvel at the Islamic architecture. Afterward, return to Cordoba for a leisurely Arab-inspired lunch at Damasco. In the afternoon, visit the Calahorra Tower and stop by the Association of the Friends of the Patios to glimpse a few of the famously flowered Cordoban patios. Treat yourself to updated Spanish cuisine at Regadera before striking out for an evening promenade through the historic city center to take in the city at night.
Day 3 – Granada
Following breakfast, hop the rails for Granada and head straight to the majestic Alhambra, a UNESCO World Heritage site for an afternoon of exploration. Pay special attention to your time of entry for the Nasrid Palaces. When you need a breather from exploring everything from the Generalife Gardens to the Alcazaba fortress, have a cool ajo blanco soup at Restaurant du Parador de Granada and enjoy the views. Take a walk down through the Alhambra Forest to town and as night falls, have a relaxing dinner before tucking in after a long day.
Day 4 – Granada
Start the day with a private guided walking tour of the Albayzín district, a historic neighborhood with narrow winding streets and a distinctly Moorish influence. This is perhaps the best preserved Arab medina (historic Arab city) in all of Spain. As you walk down into the lower Albayzín, listen for the distinct chattering of Moroccan Arabic along the bazaars for a little taste of Marrakesh. In the afternoon, visit the Granada Cathedral and maybe do a little shopping in the La Alcaicería next door. Take a stroll up the Carrera del Darro, soaking in the charming atmosphere. For dinner, consider our charming tapas tour with a local or a moving flamenco show in the caves of Sacromonte.
Day 5 – Granada and the Sierra Nevada Mountains
Climb up into the Sierra Nevada Mountains today for a rejuvenating hike and immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes of pine forests and panoramic views. Plan on a walk of 2 or more hours, depending on your abilities, interest, and the weather! Get ready for some rural exploration as our treks will take us to at least one or two smaller villages. Though you could pack a picnic lunch, we prefer to delve into some rustic mountain dining. Tuck in back in Granada this night.
Day 6 – Sevilla
Head straight out of Granada for Sevilla by high speed train this morning. In Sevilla, you will have the afternoon to visit the iconic Sevilla Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world, during an informative cathedral tour. Following, head to the historic Alcazar, a stunning palace complex with intricate architecture and beautiful gardens. We’ll provide you with an updated list of our favorite foodie spots in Sevilla so when hunger strikes, you’ll be well prepared.
Day 7 – Sevilla
We’ll start today with an easy morning bike tour that takes you through the Maria Luisa Park and historic, picturesque Plaza de España, an architectural masterpiece showcasing a semicircular building adorned with colorful tiles representing different regions of Spain. Following, we’ll trade in your wheels in your bike and dive into the culinary treats that await us on a market tour of the lively Triana market where we’ll experience a variety of fresh produce and local delicacies. In the evening, head over to the happening Macarena neighborhood and ascend the Metropol Parasol with its panoramic views of the city.
Day 8 – Sevilla
Journey out of Sevilla this morning for a trip into Roman history in nearby Santiponce. Here you will discover the birthplace of two Roman emperors in the once powerful city of Italica. Head back into Sevilla for a fun, private tapas tour. Follow that up with a lazy stroll along the Guadalquivir River. Breath in your last moments in Sevilla, the very air Christopher Columbus and so many other incredible explorers (now including you!) have breathed. Consider taking in a Flamenco performance at one of the many storied tablaos. Cap off your time in Sevilla with Michelin-star dinner or keep it casual. Traveler’s choice!
Day 9 – Departure
Connect to the local train station or airport after breakfast and say “Adios” or better yet, “¡Hasta pronto!” to your time in Andalusia.
